As a new starter to Nordic Walking you will need to complete our 3 technique training steps. A Taster, Technique Training 1 and Technique Training 2. These 3 training steps MUST be completed in order, so even though you can make the booking for each at the same time, make sure that the dates for each are after one another. i.e DON't book a Technique Training 2 class that takes place before the Taster, etc. Poles are included in all Taster and Technique Training sessions.

Yvonne (Instructor) Mob.: 07522 959 477 Email: nordicpolesapart@gmail.com Please only contact Angela when notifying of a late session cancellation. Angela (Instructor) Mob.: 07939 815334 Email: nordic.polesapart.3@outlook.com REMINDERS/RECOMMENDATIONS: Appropriate Footwear – You are advised to wear comfortable footwear that has good grip/tread, suitable for varying terrain such as wet grass, gravel, mud e.g. - trainers. Ideally, for your comfort, flexible soled shoes that are breathable and waterproof are recommended, such as waterproof trainers or flexible walking shoes. It can get very muddy in the park after heavy rain fall. Appropriate Clothing - Due to the rapidly changing weather conditions our wonderful country displays. You are advised to wear appropriate clothing for changing weather conditions. (layers of breathable clothing that can be removed/replaced as your own/surrounding temperature dictates.) You will be moving your arms and legs throughout the session so loose-fitting clothes are recommended for your comfort. Water/Rucksack (with chest-strap) - As you will be carrying poles you will not be able to carry water in your hand. If you have it available a small/slim Rucksack (with chest strap – or a piece of ribbon or string to pull the straps away from your shoulders will do!) or drinking belt for carrying water would be useful. Over the shoulder bags and rucksacks 'without' chest straps do get in the way when you are Nordic Walking so if possible avoid bringing them. WEATHER CONSIDERATIONS: Hot weather - Please ensure you have applied sunscreen on hot days. Bring plenty of water, to avoid dehydrating. A hat is useful if you are sensitive to the sun. Cold weather – As well as layers of warm clothing, bring 'thin' gloves (not ski type gloves as you wear wrist straps) and a hat if the weather is cold. You will warm-up due to the cardiovascular nature of the class, but we are in Great Britain and on some days the 'fresh' breezes can keep the temperature down. Mosquito's/Horse Flies/Ticks - Parks with trees and long grass are a favourite hang-out for Mozzy's, ticks and Horse Flies. Last summer there were reports of people getting bites and having unpleasant reaction's so please do apply some insect repellent. Ticks are on the increase in some areas of the UK and are most active March-October, so if you want to avoid picking up a tick, wearing clothes which cover your skin will help. More information on ticks can be found here: https://www.thebmc.co.uk/hill-skills-tick-alert |

The Wellbeing Nordic Walk is a gentle one for trained Nordic Walkers who wish to get out and practice/develop their Nordic Walking Technique and improve their fitness levels, whilst working at a pace appropriate for them.
You will receive Support, Technique guidance/correction and motivation from a qualified Nordic Walking and First Aid Trained Instructor.Additionally, the Wellbeing Nordic Walks are at a significantly slower pace than other sessions, consequently the distances covered are somewhat shorter. We do warm-up exercises before the session and Cool-down stretches after our Nordic Walk. The warm-ups and cool-downs are slightly different and slower paced than other sessions, to allow participants more time to transition between each exercise/stretch. These sessions also sometimes incorporate exercises designed to improve balance, strength, mobility and general fitness. Our Nordic Walking Group has evolved to become its own little community consisting of friendly, welcoming and supportive people who enjoy a chat whilst they exercise. You can participate social element as much, or as little, as you wish. MEETING POINT: Nonsuch Park, Nonsuch Mansion. We meet at the Poles Apart Flag just by the car-park and opposite the Green Barn near to the Mansion House. (The barn on the right-hand side (with Ivy growing up it) as you drive towards the Car-Park closest to the Mansion House. The Poles Apart flag is opposite the barn on the other side of the road. PARKING: (Free), cafe and toilets are available. Car park is located off 'The Avenue', Cheam, follow the signs to The Mansion House. DURATION: 1 hour INSTRUCTOR RATIO: 1/15 AND 2/30. Yvonne (Instructor) Mob.: 07522 959 477Email: nordicpolesapart@gmail.com Please only contact Angela when notifying of a late session cancellation. Angela (Instructor) Mob.: 07939 815334Email: nordic.polesapart.3@outlook.com REMINDERS/RECOMMENDATIONS: Appropriate Footwear – You are advised to wear comfortable footwear that has good grip/tread, suitable for varying terrain such as wet grass, gravel, mud e.g.

PLEASE NOTE: FINER DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO ‘VERY MINOR’ CHANGES, E.G. START/END TIMES AND THE SPECIFIC MEETING POINT COULD MOVE/CHANGE A LITTLE.This session is not about pace/speed/intensity, but instead exploring/taking in and enjoying the company/area/views/nature (though still great training/exercise, with the support of an instructor, who’s happy to help you with technique if you wish, just ask)! This is a lovely walk which takes in chalky grasslands, wildflower meadows, and ancient woodland. There are a few hills, but we will take these slowly, taking in the views as we go. CONTACTS: Please speak to Lynn or Gin if you require more details on the above. Contact details are outlined below: Lynn (Owner/Instructor/Office): Email: lynn@polesapart.biz Tel.: 07586 456 682 Please note: Works out in the Park and cannot always access emails immediately. Will respond as soon as possible when returning to the office. Gin (Office): Email: enquiries@polesapart.biz Please note: Works Part-time Hours and will respond as soon as possible. Please only contact Yvonne when notifying of a late session cancellation. Please only contact Yvonne when notifying of a late session cancellation.
